I've also been offered the idea of becoming an Indianapolis sports fan. I declined, saying I'm MSU/Detroit for life!

But seriously Spartans. How did I know that we would take a BIG lead in the Irish game only to squander that exact lead in some late game turnovers. I'm a Drew Stanton fan, don't get me wrong. But when you can't finish a huge game like he did last saturday, then you lose points with me. I don't really see him as a 1st or 2nd round pick right now, unless there's an unknown run on quarterbacks in the draft this year. Also, we can't forget that there are coaches as well. Coaches that need to communicate effectively with their players. We have the chance next week to mold our offensive line/team together as we focus on yet another fighting team in Illinois.

Now onto the Detroit Lions. Are things getting better? Quite possibly. But where? If the offense does ok, the defense is non-existent. If the defense shows up, the offense gets lost. Let's be consistently "good" together. Now that's a concept. We saw a small spark in KJ this weekend which was good, but we need more. Keep it going KJ. This coming week we take on Martz' old team the Rams in a showdown where our secondary could become exploited once again. I look forward to our front four getting into the backfield and putting Bulger on the ground. But that's just me. What do you guys what?

Are you ready for some Football?

Folks, we have a great line up for you this wekend. Lets start with college football. Penn State vs. Ohio State... Arizona St. vs. Cal... Michigan against Wisonconsin and of course my Spartans of Michigan State University face off against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame! As you can tell I love the Big Ten and MSU!

After last years Overtime win 44-41 the Spartans continue to have much to prove everytime we face the Irish. In the last 10 years it seems like we beat Notre Dame is in South Bend. When they come to East Lansing we have a problem of defending our own turf. I would like to see Saturday be another story. After ND's loss to Michigan last week they have a lot to prove. I see Charlie coming out and taking that loss out on the Spartans. And that is prefectly fine. I'm excited to see a very ferocious football game! Lets go Drew, lead the Spartans to a Victory!

We also have the Lions of Detroit facing their inter-Division rival Green Bay Packers. Back in the 90's when I was in my teams I actually "hated" Bret Favre. He beat us all the time. But through the years of watching him lead his team I've grown to admire him. He's gone through a lot throught the years with an adiction to pain killers to the loss of many dear family memebers. Through it all he has given it his all out on the field and really put his name among the best quarterback's of all time. With that said, I really hope the Detroit Lions kick the Packers butts! Litterally... while the refs aren't looking.. just kidding guys. But seriously, someone tell the offensive line to start blocking for KJ and for the Defense to stay consistent. We need a Lions win. More than that we need to see that they are steadily consistently improving.

To appease my Indy friends I must briefly speak on behalf of my new home, Indianapolis. A great city this is no doubt. This is "Colts Country." Everything is about the Colts! They are good as well, I cannot lie. So I shall support the Colts.. but Love.. no.. I cannot show love for anything but the Spartans, Pistons, Lions, Tigers, or Red Wings!

Poor Mike Williams!

Yeah right! What about the fans lol. I'm sure this is not what Coach Marinelli expected when he accepted the position from Mr. Millen. But here we are two games into the season. Fourteen to go and yes the Lions fans are still optimistic minus some very angry ones. A promising team? Yes. Now, let's prove it! Get the offensive line jelled together. Litterally, lets get break-away chains. Chain them up on a pass-protection play, while on run plays they can break the chains. In hopes that we would "move the chains".... forward that is. I will be a Lions fan through and through, but could we please consider not making mistakes. Everyone! I'd love to single out players, but that wouldn't prove a point! (See title)

Either way we have Green Bay next week, where I would like to see Bryant and the rest of the Defense show up. It would also be a nice surprise if the line blocked for K. Jones and company.

Let me know what you guys thought of last weeks beating upon ourselves!

WNBA Champs!

So in my last post I did forget to mention our lovely ladies, the Detroit Shock winning their 2nd championship in four years. Did I forget to mention. No! I merely wanted them to have their own seperate posting. Once again, we had a team from Michigan come from behind to win something. It seems this is the way society goes in this state. We love to be the underdog and "SHOCK" people. That's the way I've always seen things. I for one am happy to see the Tigers in first place. Which they better hold onto. There is a peace in knowing that you are on top. But this is sports we are talking about for crying out loud. When was there ever PEACE in sports. Sports is about excitement... About the unknown, unpredictable, unseen happening. It truly is a beautiful thing.

Back to the Detroit Shock. Were they one of the best teams in the league? Possibly. Did they have the best players at each position? Very arguable. Their record starting out the season was very mediocre. .500 if you will. And then they turned on the heat and let it all out. When I saw them play the Fever about mid-season I was very displeased with their effort. But credit to Bill Laimbeer he continued to build the team up throughout the season. The award for effort and putting everything out on the floor... WNBA Champs..

Many players saying that this one is sweeter, I cannot argue with that. I was very excited when the Pistons and Shock won it all in the same year. But like Deanna Nolan said, you never know when you're going to get back.

Congratulations to Bill and everyone involved with the Shock organization! I hope to see another one soon!

Crazy weekend!

So what do you guys think of this passed weekend in Detroit Sports?!?!

I had a very blessed weekend. For the simple fact I was able to come to Michigan. Visit with my parents and see family and friends. Also, I went to the Michigan State Football game against Eastern on Saturday. Not happy about the first half. Our defense was horrible! But John L. must've said something in the locker room because they came out with a purpose in the 2nd half on their way to blowing out the Eagles 54-20.

What is going on with my TIGERS! My mother saw the score of Sunday's loss to the Twins
(12-1) and laughed... "Mom, this is no laughing matter!" She laughed some more. Ever since our most consistent hitter and best defensive player (Placido Polanco) went down we have been lost offensively. From a Pitcher's standpoint we have never been the same since the All-star Break. Go figure, right? No matter what though I will always stand by my Tigers!

The Lions! Look at this defense. Any defense that can hold Shaun Alexander to 51 yards you have to give props to. Add that up with five sacks, (2 for Rogers, 2 for Hall) ie. My favorite lineman... Way to get off to a good start defense! NOW the offense. Did we improve from last year? I want to say we have improved. But my thoughts have not changed from last year. We still need HELP on the offensive line. That hasn't changed in 17 years. Let me know what you guys think!

OTHER NOTABLES: Penn State.. What happened boys? I was pulling for you.... Ohio State, way to go boys! Very happy that they put Texas in their place. HOOK EM BUCKS! U of M looked alright against CMU... Henne in my eyes still needs to prove himself and Hart should be contending with Peterson in Oklahoma.... cmon Hart! Congratulations Maria on the (U.S. Open) grand slam. I remember seeing her in Midland at the community center in 2003.

I believe that is all I have for now. I shall post some pics of the State game with I get the chance.
Let me know what y'all think!
